Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about PixelWhen?

How accurate is PixelWhen?

PixelWhen? provides probabilistic estimates, not definitive answers. Accuracy varies based on photo quality, age, and content. Our AI models achieve 85-95% accuracy for date estimation on photos from the last 20 years, and 70-85% accuracy for location detection when landmarks are visible.

Does PixelWhen? work with old photos?

Yes! PixelWhen? is particularly effective with photos from the 1990s to present. For older photos (pre-1990), accuracy decreases but we can still provide estimates based on clothing styles, vehicle models, and architectural details visible in the image.

Are my photos stored on your servers?

No. Face recognition happens entirely on your device. For landmark and date detection, only anonymous feature extraction data is sent to our servers—your actual photos remain on your device. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Can I use PixelWhen? for legal purposes?

PixelWhen? provides estimates, not proof. Do not use our analysis as evidence in legal proceedings without independent verification. Our Terms of Service explicitly state that we provide no guarantees about accuracy.

What photo formats are supported?

We support JPEG, PNG, HEIC, and WebP formats. Photos should be at least 500x500 pixels for best results. Maximum file size is 50MB per photo.

How many photos can I analyze?

Free tier: 10 photos per month. Pro: 500 photos per month. Family: 2,000 photos per month. All plans support batch upload and analysis.
