Privacy Policy
Your photos are personal. We treat them that way. This policy explains how PixelWhen? handles your data.

Our Privacy Principles
Four core principles that guide everything we do with your data.
On-Device Processing
Face recognition happens entirely on your device. Your personal photos never leave your iPhone or iPad.
No Cloud Storage
We don't store your personal photos on our servers. Only anonymous feature extraction data is processed.
Data Minimization
We collect only what's necessary to provide the service. No selling of user data to third parties.
Easy Deletion
Delete your account and all associated data at any time with one click.
1. Information We Collect
Photos you upload: When you upload photos for analysis, they are processed on your device for face recognition. For landmark and date detection, anonymous feature extraction data may be sent to our secure servers, but your actual photos are not stored.
Account information: If you create an account, we collect your email address and basic profile information.
Usage data: We collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the app, such as which features are used most often and general performance metrics.
Device information: Basic device information (device type, iOS version) to ensure compatibility and optimize performance.
2. How We Use Your Information
To provide the service: Analyzing your photos to estimate dates, locations, and identify people.
To improve the app: Using anonymous usage data to fix bugs and develop new features.
To communicate with you: Sending important updates about the service or responding to support requests.
To ensure security: Monitoring for fraudulent activity and protecting our systems.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your data: We will never sell your personal information or photos to third parties.
Service providers: We use trusted third-party services for infrastructure (like AWS for anonymous feature processing) and analytics. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.
Business transfers: In the event of a merger or acquisition, user data would be transferred as part of the business assets.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Photo data: Your photos are processed on-device and not stored on our servers. Anonymous feature extraction data is retained for up to 30 days for service improvement.
Account data: We retain your account information as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in the app settings.
Deletion requests: To request deletion of your data, contact us at privacy@pixelwhen.com. We will process your request within 30 days.
5. Your Rights and Choices
Access and correction: You can access and update your account information in the app settings.
Data portability: You can export your photo analysis data at any time through the app.
Opt-out: You can opt out of non-essential communications in your account settings.
GDPR/CCPA rights: If you are in the EU or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA. Contact us to exercise these rights.
6. Security Measures
Encryption: All data in transit is encrypted using TLS 1.3. Anonymous feature extraction data is encrypted at rest.
On-device processing: Face recognition happens entirely on your device, eliminating the risk of cloud data breaches for personal photos.
Regular audits: We conduct regular security audits and penetration testing.
Employee training: All employees with data access undergo privacy and security training.
7. Children's Privacy
PixelWhen? is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and, if appropriate, through in-app notifications.
